RNC Day 2: Infanticide, Bono, 5 Wars, Charity, Guns, & Vagueness

After day two of the 2012 Republican National Convention here’s where they Republican Party stands. (However, I do keep looking for the flashing red lights and sirens of the apocalypse given the “end of the world” rhetoric they keep using.)

And in true Karl Rove style, they have turned around one of their biggest weaknesses and acuse their opponent of it, “politics of hate and fear” they are pushing that hard… saying Democrats are the party doing it. Anyone with a brain and a memory knows otherwise.

It’s still all negative. There is no positive policy as to how the Republican Party will “be better” other than cut taxes. Which the entire world and even God knows we’ve tried multiple times and it doesn’t work.

If they end up pushing this “I built it” crap into day three I’m going to give up all hope that there is an honest bone in their political body.

Initially the most shocking was Huckabee’s almost side note that President Obama doesn’t value life, either in the womb OR OUTSIDE OF IT…. so… Huckabee thinks, and says on national television that President Obama is a baby killer? Really? That’s beyond red meat. (And if that can be interpreted in another way, please feel free to comment.)

There’s a new theme republicans are pushing: that charity giving is a better form of assistance than government. It’s a belief, there’s nothing wrong with that. On a moral level I sort of agree, I wish more people would give to charity… but it’s not enough. There aren’t enough people who can AFFORD to give to charity… that’s why we have government.

Is giving to charity going to build roads? Bridges? Hire teachers? No, it won’t.

Moreover, if that donation to charity is a charity that happens to be solely dedicated to issues like making abortion illegal as opposed to feeding children… that part gets left out of the Republican talking point. The Koch brothers I’m sure give to all sorts of “charities” that are not universally helpful to all people in this country.

And I would **really** like to know what Bono thinks about Huckabee using his name in his speech. Like all the other bands and musicians who have recoiled at the republicans using their music lately, I bet he might have a few “diplomatic” things to say about what the republican party stands for.

John McCain would like the United States to go to war with Iran, Syran, been even more engaged in Libya, and stay in Afganistan until his grandchild have their own grandchildren. Somewhere in there he also mentioned “not allowing” China and Russia to roadblock.

Leading from behind is also such a tired line the Republicans use. The entire world knows that Obama’s combination of military and diplomacy, working with other nations, and all but mandating that other countries step up and take more costs in the actions in the Middle East.. that’s not leading from behind.. that’s leading with intellegence.

Condi Rice, “where does America stand?” For the first time, Ameria stands with the rest of the World, and not on its own pedistal willing to bomb anyone who disagress with it at a moments notice. That part of her job was to sell that the Republican Party is the “compassionate” party was a difficult task. When compared to all other American political parties… the republicans probably have the reputation of being the LEAST compassionate and most selfish of them all. She did give a good speech, though. She has been out of the spotlight for awhile, and I admit I liked seeing her again for some reason. I don’t agree with her politics, but I think she’s a really dedicated person.

And again, no one in the Republican Party mentions how the country is supposed to pay for all these wars when they insist on cutting taxes for the rich and raising them on the middle class.

The second day of the RNC, however, was much better at being at least slightly pro Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. It was still 95% negative Obama-bashing, but they’ve made a little progress in at least remembering to mention the name of the republican nominee.

Here’s another doosey: New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez calls on the Republican Party of being the party of women… of helping break the glass ceiling…. forget about voting and lobbying AGAINST the Lily Leadbetter act law that Obama signed into law.

Bigest Irony of Day Two of the RNC: Paul Ryan

I’ve never seen an opponent hiding more from their own record.” That’s EXACTLY what Paul Ryan has been doing ever since being selected. From his budget that blows up the deficit, to his support of personhood, Paul Ryan has been running away from his own record at every turn.

And love this one: Paul Ryan tries to blame… Obama? for the credit downgrade… when HE was one of the Republican members of congress who caused it to happen? Insane. Karl Rove strikes again.

For the life of me I cannot understand, when we have a congress that even the leader of the House, a republican, has called out for stalling legislation and causing problems for this country, that these people can get up and give speeches and blame the President for it… it’s an embarrassment to this country.
