Favorite search of the day: how to make democrats angry

make democrats angry. screaming at computer hiding elephantHow could anyone living on my general ideological plain (convex and semi-opaque) pass that one up as the favorite search of the day?

(I’m not making this up: we use analytics determine the “Favorite Search of the Day” articles. These phrases are taken directly from searches by people who visit POLITUSIC. Someone googled, “how to make democrats angry”, and wound up on this web site of all places.)

The answer to the question is quite easy, dear he or she who desires to know (and presumably practice) “how to make democrats angry” –  searching for things like “how to make democrats angry” on the Internet makes democrats angry!!

If you want to make an member of the opposition angry… that’s usually enough to ensure that you actually are. Most people don’t like someone who intentionally tries to make their lives difficult. If you search “how to make a blueberry pie” then people will assume your plan is to make a blueberry pie, so it follows that you search “how to make democrats angry” then that’s exactly what you intend to do. No one likes it when others seek out ways to make them upset; it doesn’t matter what political party to wear on your sleeve.

Search implies motive and destination. Why not search “how to get along with democrats” for a change?

See how that works? It’s really quite amazing, and a trophy-winning demonstration of the influence and power that a certain portion of the electorate possess – of which I bet they are fully unaware: they’re involved in politics purely to anger people on the other side. They intentionally create tension – because THAT’S what they think politics is all about. Welcome to the extreme right-wing of modern American politics: a political faction whose very existence is to piss off the other side of the aisle. It’s a game and a war without a way to win… everybody loses when you enter a game with no other intent than to elbow the other guy in the face.

Because of all the blather floating around talk radio and hyper-biased cable news, politics is a battle to many people, rather than something that’s intended to improve a community through discussion and compromise. Thanks to hyperbolic jaw wagging intended solely to boast about boosted revenue numbers, there’s a whole gaggle of people googling ideas how they can intentionally and consciously take actions to make a situation worse and more difficult to resolve. (And, yes, I don’t doubt that there are people searching “how to make republicans angry” as well. Y’all don’t get a free pass here, either.)

Whoop-dee-do. Go people. We rock! Nice declaration of true motivation. (There’s a lot of that going on lately, eh?)

Googling “how to make democrats angry”… yup. Spot on ploy and well executed. Success is yours, my rival in political dialog. (and yes… it tastes a bit sour and granular; like chewing on bits of binary code from circa 1998)

Me, I’m just arrogant, sarcastic, and a bit of a tosser, but at least I don’t go around actually LOOKING for ideas how to piss off Republicans. There’s no point in even having a conversation if you research how to make a democrat angry rather than, say, democratic policy so that you might have an intelligent conversation and win a debate on merit and facts. (Once again I’m prone to think of the Senate Minority Leader’s declaration of his party’s singular objective to prevent Obama being re-elected, rather than getting anything done in his job.)

Yup… success, my friend. A well-thrown curve ball of a tactic. You got me to rant, so now I ask for a favor in return:

Try wading into politics NOT with the sole intent of making the opposite political partisan angry. If that’s how you start the game, then you will only become even more angry and bitter, because you’ll be begging the symptom from everyone you meet.

Stop the cycle. Someone has to do it.
